Dos and Don'ts of Social Media (Part 1)

This is my first post on this blog...yippie!!!. We are going to have so much fun together, I promise. I am here to share my daily experience, learning and discoveries in the fast changing social media world.

Let's talk about the Do's Social Media

See social media as a playground where you can express yourself freely ( positive vibes only!), sell yourself , reach out to millions and millions of people , and have fun at the same time.

Do's

1. Build Your Social Network : Your network is your net worth, how much are you worth? Establish rich relationships, make friends with people online and grow your fan base slowly.

2. Be Social: Social media is meant to be social, fun and highly interactive. As a brand, you definitely want ROI on the time and resources  you spend on social media, but remember the "social" in social marketing.

3. Define Your Audience: Defining your audience goes beyond the age and possiblly sex of your target market, you need to profile your audience. Here are a few points you can include in your audience profiling check box.

• Who is my audience?
• Where is he/she located?
• Who old is he/she?
• How does he/she talk?
• What are his/her interests?
• How can I communicate to get his/her attention?
• Give your persona/target person a name to make it more real and human

4. Be Consistent: Social media is everything but a magic ground where you take over the internet in one night. If you are not a Kardashian, it is very unlikely that you will "break the internet" or become a social influencer overnight. Be consistent, communicate regularly,  be reachable and gradually your audience will begin to rely on you for information.

5. Help solve issues: We all have that one blog or website we trust for information in certain niches in different industries. These blogs have over time helped people solve their problems, they listen and respond until they became the go-to place for information about their industry.
